WELCOME RIO MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL

We are very happy to announce the entry of a new member in the International Alliance for Mountain Film. It is the RIO MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL, which takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil : the city stands between the sea and the mountains and is home to the largest urban forest in the world!

Rio Mountain Festival began its journey as the International Mountain Film Festival in 2001, showcasing the best films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival. Three years later, it created a film competition with the aim of encouraging also the national production of films about adventure sports, nature and mountain culture. Today it’s the most important event in the Brazilian calendar of mountain culture and cultural activities related to outdoor sports.
