This mountain film festival is intended for film buffs, mountaineers and lovers of the outdoors. It also caters for those who like arthouse film or extreme sports. In addition to new and established mountain films, the festival also puts on a varied programme of side events featuring literature, music, art, food and sports. The DMFF aims to foster an awareness of the beauty and vulnerability of the mountains, the diversity of mountain cultures and (the consequences of) sporting activities in and around the mountains. The DMFF singles itself out from other film festivals by placing the emphasis on artistic productions, staging an extensive cultural and sporting programme of side events, and focusing attention on new and young talent and short films. The Dutch Mountain Film Festival has been a member of the International Alliance for Mountain Film (IAMF) since 2014.
