Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival began in 1976 as a one-day event. It has grown to a 9 day long festival held the first week of November each year. The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour follows as soon as the festival in Banff is over every year. The Tour visits 40 countries and accounts for over 840 screenings. The Festival is an international, competition with events featuring film screenings, international speakers, seminars, a trade show, art and craft fair, photo exhibitions, photo competition, book competition and workshops including Mountain Wilderness Writing and Filmmakers’ workshops. The Festival traditionally attracts about 32,000 audience members in Banff, and more than 390,000 on its World Tour.
